Hi yall,
My brother called me last week and said he bought a cub cadet. It had quit on the owner while mowing so he went and bought a zero turn.... cub cadet of course... Since my brother doesnt have a place to keep it, he asked me if I would. So yesterday in the rain, we went to get it. Its a 3240. Its not in bad shape.. I got it to run, but it didnt run well... I backed it off the trailer and figured out which cylinder was down and pulled the valve cover. I found a bent pushrod... hopefully thats all thats wrong with it.. parts are ordered, so we'll see. ![]()

Nice 40th anniversary tractor. Glad to hear it's not a major fix.

Nice find and maybe a easy fix too. I have been looking for one of those for a few years, missed a couple, but someday I will get one.

I have a 3235 with the 23hp kohler and had also had a bent pushrod. Mine had sat outside and filled one cylinder with water.

How hard was it to fix? I hope this one didn't drop a valve seat... Thanks, Stuart

Initially I just pulled the valve cover off of the affected side and removed the rocker arm then replaced the pushrod. Once I had it back together, I ran great but smoked like crazy! Ended up pulling the engine out and tearing it down to hone the cylinders out. Honestly, just replacing the pushrod, about 20mins if you take your time and drink a can of pop along the way.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
