Default will not roll in neutral

i'm kinda stuck

this tractor i'm trying to bring back to life after sitting 9 yrs

my model 100 will not roll in neutral.......rweaver told me to check the shifter fork so i split the tractor and pulled the shifter.....all looks fine there except for the rust on the gears that were exposed......turned the shaft with a pr of vice grips and everything seems to move as it should.

i'm assuming the brake is stuck.....it did this when i pulled it out of the weeds then seemed to free itself after i ran the engine on carb cleaner and ran it thru the gears up on stands.
stuck again now......i already did a search and came up with nothing, and i looked thru the service manual, it lists nothing about 49 yrs of rust lol.

Several years ago I changed the brake pucks on my 102. I had to split the tractor and remove the front plate of the tranny. Inside near the bottom is a disk about 6 inches around. This disk is what the brake operates on. To replace the inside brake puck if I remember right you have to remove the disk. Your problem may possibly lie with a rusted operating mech on the outside. The brake has several parts on the outside that operate brake. As I recall in addition to the pivot mechanism there is a rod and a ball that pushes the outside brake pad. Do not lose the ball. Another potential problem could be a missing or weak clutch/brake pedal return spring as I believe this spring relieves the brake pressure.

thanks paul!

i figured it out......brakes were stuck, the puck that is supposed to move is siezed up, now to get it free without any more damage to my pocket lol.

O-ring on brake puck is sticking.
Check the bore where the brake puck goes.
Odds are you will find dirt in the bore.
Replace the o-ring while you have the puck out.
The o-ring becomes hard after a few years in the tractor.
