I got a 104 and she runs but not the best. I've cleaned the carb twice and still she wants to pitter patter. I can drive it but it eventually cuts out on me. What are some suggestions you guys have? Thanks and for those of you who read about my 149. I got her running good and haven't tinkered with her since. I am going full restoration on the 149. That project follows this one.

IMHO 98% of all carburetor problems are electrical.
Try cleaning the points and setting the timing.

I've thought carb problems on one tractor ended up being a burnt valve and bad head gasket

If it drives and eventually quits, it sounds more like a fuel restriction. There is (usually) a screen on the inside of the fuel tank's cutoff valve. Unscrew that and remove it. See if it's plugging up. You can check quickly--next time it quits, remove the fuel line at the carb and check for good flow. should be a strong steady stream, not just a trickle.

Any small engine shop should have what you need. I usually get my stuff at my local Napa. Make sure if you buy a coil to get one with an internal resistor. Napa has small engine catalogs and you should be able to get a carb kit as well.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
