Default Fixing up my model 100!

Oh man i got some sort of yellow fever, always lookin at cub cadets and trying to figure out how to fix em up on a low budget, and starin at cub cadets on craigslist at 4 in the morning drooling

anyway i am bringing my model 100 back from the dead.

this one has some history, was an old friends tractor that he got from his grandfather.......well my friends dad called the junk man one afternoon and i caught wind of it and beat the junkman to the shed and took the cub to my parents place. that was around 1991 i think?
stopped at the cub dealer on the way home for a carb kit and some points and later that evening i had it running. i continued to work it till around 2003 when it suffered so many problems that my dad went out and got a new cub cadet (21..? has a one cyl onan on it)
it sat at my parents place under a tarp till about 3 yrs ago when my dad asked me to take all the tractors to my place, and i was working and have a serious illness, and just didnt have time or energy for the cub cadets.
so after sitting for 10 yrs, this week i rolled it up to the shop and got it running on some starting fluid, needed points cleaned and a new plug wire.

turns out i remember why it got parked, no power, i quickly located a blown head gasket.

so it is getting a basic freshen up, new head gasket, pto clutch rebuild, pto bearing, carb rebuild, and fresh paint job.

i using some new spray paint and i really like it, it is rustoleum ultra cover in marigold.......it covers nice and is close enough to cub cadet yellow to me.......i used the tsc cub cadet yellow spray paint on my 72 parts and that stuff was like water and took 3-4 coats to cover decently, this stuff covered good in 2 coats.

it wont be perfect but better than sitting in the weeds or getting made into cat food cans. i have a 38" deck that i gotta repair some holes on but the bearings and the blades are good......about all thats left to find that i need are tires that hold air and a seat and a few other odds and ends, but i'm gonna be painting for 2 weeks lol

i'll put up some pictures when i figure out how lol

excellent. I traded off my 100 awhile ago, and although it went to a great home I'm sure, I really miss the ole girl. Closes I could find recently was a 72 I acquired recently. Keep us updated on the progress for the 100. good luck! and I'm sure it'll come out great.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
