Hello well the 782 is acting up and I'm a little puzzled. The switch works (I think)
the pto clicked when I turned the key, and the I tried bypassing the brake safety switch and it did nothing. I ran a jumper wire from the battery to the starter and turned the switch and it started instantly and ran fine for 10 minutes and stopped and I tried the switch and it did nothing. I checked the fuses and they were not blown. My question is where else should I check? Thanks for any help.

I just turned on the PTO to see if the switch was functioning I turned the PTO off to try cranking it.

So.... you basically jumped the starter? Didn't it crank as soon as the wire touched the starter? ....... Then it ran a bit and died?

yes that is what it did, I cranked it and it ran 10 minutes and stopped I turned the switch (without the pto on) and it did nothing, maybe it's the solenoid

Check the usual (grease and grime at the solenoid connection) ... you can also try 12V directly to the solenoid terminal and see if that makes it crank

Well, the solenoid didn't make it die..... I'm assuming you have the KT engine, and not an M motor. M will run with no power. KT won't. May just have a bad connection at the key switch. It's very common.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
