Default Hello from N VA - Value of a 104?

Hi All,

My Pappaw bought a 1811 brand new when I was 9 or 10 years old. My dad mowed the Xmas tree farm with it today. The deck and tractor are pretty beat up but still going strong! I will never forget him letting me mow with it. Every time I hit a bump the PTO would shut off (not a problem now ).I purchased a rough 450 snow blower for it for it a few weeks ago and an 1864 with 167 hours on it for mowing the lawn. The 1864 is going to take over mowing duties. The 1811 is going to be my first restoration project, I think. A guy that works next to me has a 2072 he may want to part with. Today as I was driving my Dad to the Moose I saw a 104 on the side of the road. I called the number, It runs and has 3 plows for the rear, a snow plow for the front and a 42" deck. Whats it worth? I think its safe to say I got the fever!

Thanks, Travis

Thanks! He wants $1000 OBO. I think he will come down. I forgot to look for a rear PTO.

Welcome to OCC! Did you get that 1864 that was on CL and was nearly immaculate? If so, that was one sweet Cyclops!

The 104 - he's real high on his price. The tractor would have to be pretty well 'loaded' to command $1000 even with the plows. It looks to be in good original condition, but without options like headlights, creeper, or hydraulic lift, it's down in the $400-500 range, assuming it runs and drives with no issues...

The Yellow Fever can hit hard in these parts!!

I have about $200 more than that into my repainted 104 with 2 sets of tires and wheels, new clutch and drive shaft, rebuilt motor, front blade, 3point hitch, rear blade, brinly adapter, and some other stuff.

I bet you could get that thing for $350

Yes Tom. That's the one My only issue is that the left side of the mower deck seems to throw a lot of grass/ dust out from under the front of it, and all over me. It did improve some what after I cleaned the underside of the deck yesterday while changing the belts.

I'll call him and make him an offer today. Thanks for the input!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
