Default Can't find hydro oil leak

Is there a dye or colored hydro oil that can be purchased? I have a leak on 1450 #1 and I can't find where it's coming from. Appears to be the right front/side of the hydro, but I'm not sure.

As a suggestion.....you may want to take something like "brake cleaner" and clean your Hydro until there is no dirt or oil. Once the unit is sparkling clean, then monitor and watch for the oily residue.

I don't know of any type of fluid to do that what I would do is get it clean then get baby powder and sprinkle it a round area and you will find the leak

If it were leaking from the check valves or input shaft then it should be obvious, providing it's half-way clean.

If it is leaking from somewhere else... Then it has to come out to stop the leak. If you were taking it out to replace a seal or gasket, then you would probably replace all the seals and the gasket while you have it out, that way you won't have to take it out again in 6 months to replace something else... So take it out and replace the gasket and the seals (except the one on the trunion shaft), then you can put it back in with confidence.

Why not the trunion shaft? ..... I was going to suggest that it may be leaking there. My 1811 does... took me a while to find it, and haven't had the time to pull the rear end to fix it. I've replaced that seal on others with no ill effects....

I've had them leak on the trunion shaft as well. The side that you have to pull the shaft out to fix is a pain but not extreamly hard. I'm betting its coming from that area

The level of difficulty was the primary reason.

And I should have said "unless it really looks like that is where it's leaking".

Finally found the leak. Mowed yesterday and lost a lot of speed and she started bucking. Cleaned her this morning, got carried away w/ the power, but found the leaks.
2nd leak is the front hydraulic couplers. Installed new o rings, be they are still leaking. Any ideas? I have 2 new couplers, but from what I see, they will be a pain to change out.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
