Default 1210 dying going downhill

I have a 1210 that I mow with. It has a M12 in it and a walbro carb. When I point this tractor downhill, it dies, but only at high throttle. It idles perfect no matter what slope the tractor is on. The carb been rebuilt and i keep taking it apart and soaking it and cleaning it. I can get it to run great when its in the garage, but when i start mowing downhill, forget it. Could it be flooding when im going downhill? If thats the case, wouldn't it still want to die at idle also?

Sounds like you are "starving" for gas when going down hill. Looks like you have a "fuel delivery problem".

WOW, all of mine die going uphill, but I attribute that to me not going on a diet!!

Gravity does funny things, I would pull off the fuel line with the back of the tractor jacked up and as Roland said, look for a gas delivery issue.

If I added that I need to shut the fuel off when not in use to keep it from overflowing into the crankcase, would you still think its starving? I have no idea how old the fuel lines are so I will replace them and see if there were any restrictions. Otherwise do you think it might be time for a new carburator?

I would check the FLOAT in the Carb first.

That sounds like you have a float or needle valve sealing issue. That problem would show symptoms worse at idle speed rather than full throttle.

Nevertheless, I had an M 18 that used to quit when I'd mow along a bank with the right side of the tractor on the downhill side. Seemed to run well at other times. Finally found a hole in the carburetor float or I just arbitrarily dropped the float level and the problem went away. Dont remember exactly how I fixed it but float related.

Turns out I had the float level adjusted wrong, the walbros are supposed to have the float parralell to the body when turned upside down. Runs perfect now, but its blowing fuses every so often, seems like after cranking

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
