Default Neutral safety switch

I was looking around to find a replacement for my 127's neutral safety switch that was seized up. After doing searches on "momentary push button switches" I found that these are rather standard switches that can be found anywhere. I ordered one on fleabay for about 8.00 with free shipping instead of nearly 40.00 for an original. This one is a Moroso 74120. Most of them come with the same 5/8-32 threading of the original and also come with the protective boot. If the mounting depth isn't correct you could take use one additional hex nut to sandwich the switch to the mounting hole at the correct depth then put the boot over the top. Otherwise, you could bend the safety flapper to properly adjust switching point.

Just to add: The contacts on this one are screw posts so the end connectors on the wires would simply be changed.

When ordering, be sure to find a switch with "normally off" so that when the brake is pushed it completes the starter circuit then turns off when the brake is released.

Absolutely! I like trying to support the sponsors but I find that the prices for some of these original Kohler/Cub parts are INSANE. Just like the crankshaft end bearings; just a standard 6008 bearing for $20-30 instead of $80-90 for OEM.

I think the reason 90% of the OCC members are here are because we like to save $$$

I read on another forum about the guys spending $8900 for a 60" cut mower, What fun is that?

I do not think I have spent $8900 on Cub Cadets, and I have owned a LOT of them since 1980.

Great find on the switch!!

This switch can be replaced by numerous switch Manufacturers, ie: Carling, McGill, etc.

Maybe McGill has one that will fit but the 100s is a 15/32-32 threading so it may be a bit sloppy in that hole.

Am I the only guy that just bypasses this switch and treats the machine as a gun? AKA "Always loaded..."

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
