Does anyone have a parts source for the chaincase bearings on #1A, #2A tillers? Ive tried the sponsors and so far have came up with nothing. I know several people on here have done refurbishments on these and they came out great. any help would be appreciated.

I don't know exactly which bearings you are looking for, so here is what is listed for the Tiller Gearcases:

* IH-471895-R91 Bearing w/o Collar
* IH-485259-R91 Bearing w/o Collar
* IH-666589-R91 Bearing w/o Collar

Chances are, that IH bought these bearings from a Bearing Manufacturer. This would mean, that you would have to gain access to the bearing, clean it up enough, to read the OEM numbers that are etched into flange. Then, a well equipped Bearing Supplier, should be able to cross reference it.

You should be able to get them at a farm store, or auto parts store. You'll have to know what size the shaft is, but that really isn't difficult. Get the old bearings out and take them with you. They really aren't anything special. If you have trouble, let us know and we'll walk you through it.

^^ agreed, these tillers were built in simpler times and used common parts, shouldn't be to hard to find a bearing that works.

Thanks for the help. My #2 tine bearings are about to give up the ghost and it started me thinking. I've also just acquired a #1 that's in rough shape and needs to be put back in service. You can't have too many you know.
