Default ported hydro pump

Does anyone know what the differences in hydro pumps are from the 149, 1450 ported hydro pumps compared to the 582, 782, 1711 etc style? I purchased a hydro pump to install in my 1450 that is not yellow like the original one, it is gray. The difference that i see is that where the pump mounts to the rear end it does not have the 2 screws and the drain hole in the round area where you install the gasket that always leaks. The person assured me that it will work on my rear end with no problems. He said that it was the later style and they eliminated the drain hole because it was not needed. What do you guys think?

IH used three different Sundstrand Hydros.
(A) Non Ported
(B) Ported
(C) Ported with SGT output gear.

The first two are totally interchangeable.

If you put a ported pump on a non ported application, then simply use a bypass loop.

what you are saying is that even though the pump does not have the drain hole or whatever that is it will work with my rear end replacing my ported hydro pump.

That's correct units without a drain hole drain through the output shaft bearing. Not sure what you mean by two screws though.
EDIT: Did some googleing and apparently the earlier units had a bolt on swash plate that is held on by the two bolts near the output shaft. In later ones the swash plate is part of the case.

Spot on advice/explanation,
I replaced a 3 hole earlier style on a 782 with the later one and it
worked exactly the same as the older design.
you will have no problems.
The bolt on swash plate was cast into the hydro, rather
than being a separate part.
It was quite a cost savings, eliminating several
machining/drilling/tapping operations and cost of
attaching bolts, without any sacrifice in quality.

Not meaning to hijack this thread but can you swap a hydro from a aluminium rear end to a cast rear end then?

Yes as long as you are going from GT to GT or Super to Super

One thing I forgot to add is the input shafts could be different if the new pump came off a Cyclops they are splined verses the spirol pin.

Sam- my input shaft is the same. My big concern using this newer style pump was the drain hole.. I thought it might be there for some kind of lubrication or something. Would hate to ruin the pump or my rear.
Is there a gasket made that does not have the 3 holes? If so, part number would be helpful. Thanks
