Hi everyone, I have a 123 that I use for plowing snow. When I run the engine at higher rpm's and shift into reverse it takes off like a shot. Even if I'm careful and go into reverse easy, I'ts still pretty fast. Is there a way to adjust it to be slower?
Thanks. |

If your talking about it being jerkey it almost sounds like your trunion is wore out. there are threads on this site that show Tue different ways of fixing it.

I agree, I would check the trunion first. Is it jerky at all going forward?

It's not jerkey or erratic, just fast. Reverse comes on really quick. I'll check the trunion and see if its worn. That's probably it. Thanks.

Just a thought, maybe the Relief Valve (Reverse) is stuck open. Might want to investigate that also.

Maybe the truinion is stuck. Or really hard springs. I have a tractor thats just the opposite. Really slow in reverse. Never looked into it.

I might get into it this weekend. We're supposed to get snow here on friday so, I need to keep it in one piece till then. I read up on the trunion repair and it seems easy enough and while it's apart I can install the rear lift that I have for it. I need to drill the frame for the lift so the fenders need to come off anyway. Thanks, for all the info. You guy's are the best and make things much easier.

The lift came off of a 126 and the bracket bolted to each side of the frame. My 123 does'nt have the holes in the frame but, everything else looks to be the same.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
