Lot of snow blade talk recently. Thought I'd throw this out, don't know if its been covered or not?
Has anyone added a rubber scraper for the bottom of a snow blade? Any info would be appreciated. Worth it? Do they exist, or does one fabricate it from a rubber thingie ? If they exist where does one purchase it? Thanks in advance, NIK,

I just cut a strip of rubber from a 4 ply tire and bolted behind the metal cutting edge. I used a sabre saw to make the cut it only took a few minutes.I got the tire free in the junk bin at a tire store.I did have to get longer bolts so overall cheap. It seems like will hold up well from what I have used it so far.

I wonder how the plastic holds up. I guess that at that price it would be considered an expendable item.

I just can't see that cutting into any ice under the snow at all. I can't imagine it would last long on concrete either. Seems like one good scraping is all it would handle. I may be wrong (it has happened once or twice in my lifetime :biggrin2) Just seems wrong. I guess if you have a perfect concrete drive and want to save it from scrathes it would be good
![]() Would like to hear from someone that has used them though.

I know you can get thick plastic ones for skid steers used in parking lot cleaning, but they are $$$ may want to check on a skid steer attachment site.

I made one a few years back out of 1/2" thick rubber to prevent scratches on my asphalt driveway. I wasn't to impressed with it because you have to plow very slowly to keep it from vibrating.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
