For you Cub guys ...
Looking into a 1200 to rebuild ... like the idea of the 3 speed manual trans but would like the hydrolics for the rear attachments etc. Is there a way to fit hydrolics to a QL 1200 for implements ? tks, Bryan

scgtguy: I think you will have to add a pump to your system somehow. Some of the earlier narrow frames had a hydraulic option, then an electric with the Model 147; I've heard of people adding a power steering pump or another after-market pump.
Since you're running a gear drive, you would have to drive the pump from the engine, which would mean adding a pulley, probably to the rear of the crankshaft. The harder part, it seems to me, would be figuring out how to mount the pump to the engine block and brace it well enough to keep a drive belt aligned. You've also got to make sure the direction of rotation for your pump is correct. The modification you're contemplating is definitely in the "on-off" territory. |

If it were mine I would look for a 1250 or 1650 if I wanted a quietline with hyd. It could be done, think someone else on here has done it,would just be alot of work and alot of mods. I have a 1200 and love my old tractor, just think it would be simpler to do on a hydro drive. This is just my 2cents! Good luck if you decide to go ahead with it and would love to see your pics!..Brian

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
