Default 682 rear end on a 782d?

First off I am new to the site. I aquired a 782D last october and its nothing but a headache. I had to replace the driveshaft and the flexible discs. I also did the starter upgrade right away being that winter was just around the corner. Anyways I was wondering if a cast rear end from a 682 would bolt right up to my 782d. The hydro seems to be really tight but I have been chasing a leak for quite some time now and some other issues with the rear end keep coming up.

Thanks for all your input!

Jordan

Mr. Duke...Now, have we forgotten the thing that a 682 does NOT have? Hint: It makes lifting a tiller a PAIN!

The rearend will bolt up just fine as Duke says, but obviously the hydro pump will need to be swapped to the 782D's original unit.

Thanks for the quick responses. Would I need to swap over the hyrdo unit being the the diesels have auxiliary hydraulic ports?

Yes, but I was under the assumption that Jordan meant the whole trans/trans-axle assembly, due to pointing out his current hydro leaks.

If you do it you may want to re-seal it while before you put it in and checkout the trunion. Much easier to do it while it's out. Then you should be good for a LONG time. And as Matt and Conner pointed out you will need to use your pump. And welcome to OCC.

Because of hydraulic ports, and hydraulic lift.

So this should be a pretty simple process then correct? Forgive my ignorance but what would this trunion be? I will try and post some pictures of it sometime this week.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
