Default Anyone know where I can get a Hydro pump rebuilt?

Im restoring my Red 782, and want to have the hydro pump rebuilt while I have it apart. It IS the ported one. Its out of a 1980 Red 782.

Any thoughts, links, or comments would be GREAT.

Thanks!

Just curious,
but what's wrong with the hydro? These hydros are bulletproof and usually last for a long time if well maintained. I myself have never been into a hydro, but some guys on here have rebuilt 'em themselves. Hopefully they will chime in. Another option would be to just swap out your hydro with another good ported hydro. Really all depends on what's going on with yours and what your budget is.

Are you having problems with it now? If not I'd just put a new cork gasket in it and maybe a set of axle seals while you have the rear out and run it.

I figure since I have it out, have it rebuilt. I dont know if it got Metal Shavings up in it or not. The rear end has alot of metal and chunks of metal in the bottom of it too.

here are some shots of the transmission. There is metal in the small hole behind the bearing, and I have a question. Should the cage on the bearing have the small crack in it like this one does? There is a piece of metal roughly that size in the botom of the rear end.

Does anyone know why this case has stampings on it?
And why has it been scribed?

would these indications be clues that it already been rebuilt?

Im not the expert in this forum but conventional wisdom on the hydro pump is, if it's not broken, don't fix it.

The valves, perhaps, the seals perhaps, but the rest of it rarely if ever seems to fail.

The crack is a retaining ring--normal
I don't think you can/want to pay for a rebuild, If parts were avail.
Unless they suffer a catastrophic failure, leave well enough alone.
Worry about a problem IF it happens would be my suggestion.
Then replace with a good used one.
But everyone has an opinion, nothing wrong with that

Ok guys, thanks for the help. If I should leave it alone, is there any way to flush it out? Without spraying HY-TRAN all over my garage or lawn?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
