| Getting ready for fall clean up

I have been looking for a bagger for my 3205 and found that only the fan assisted type will work. I had no luck finding one until last week when this showed up on CL. I got the 3165 tractor, 48" deck and fan assisted bagger all for $400. The tractor turns over but the 16 HP Vanguard won't run and shows 649 hours on the meter. Is there anything I need to be looking for when I start working on the engine? Does anybody have one of these baggers and are they any good?

Todd The Vanguards are pretty simple. Check the fuel shut down solenoid, do you have spark, is the carb clean, compression check, is it getting fuel to the carb? Carb can be cleaned by removing the top. Don’t know anything about the bagger. My theory on cleaning up cuttings is God put them where he wanted them so I leave them alone, LOL

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
