Default Smoker value

Guys
Just wonder what you think a 1782 diesel is worth. Supposed to have 700 + hours, a 54” deck with some holes in it, sounds like it has a bad shutdown solenoid and maybe a bad alternator and it may need a battery. Checked the Cub parts site the shutdown solenoid is NLA. Guy seems to think its worth around $3000, I don’t think it’s a good deal even though it is a smoker but thought I’d run it past you guys.

I would pass on it. Maybe 1500 or so. I have to wonder that the deck having such a rough life the tractor did too. 3000 is too much.

Too much Sam. If it had rear pto I would say maybe $2500 tops. One of my dealers has one with 550 hours and no rear pto, same deck and it has been on his lot for over 1 year. He wants $3k also. Keep looking.....but only up north. Don't be lookin south.

I agree that it's too much. But think about it, if the deck wasn't even there..It would look nicer to our eyes, wouldn't it?

It's got lower hours, and a very clean engine..from the pictures.

I'm not saying it's a great price, but don't let the rusted out deck make the rest of the tractor look like a junker.

Is he firm on the price? If not, offer $1500 and see what happens. Sounds like it needs some work, but doesn't look too bad. You might get lucky and find some of the needed parts from the sponsors. Good luck and keep us posted.

Just my $.02 worth but $3000 is to much. If I was making an offer I would say the tractor is worth $2500 minus any needed parts and the deck repair and present it that way. I think once you begin to subtract what it needs your gonna end up around $1200-1500 just like the other guys are saying.
Is it just me or have Super and Diesel prices just skyrocketed?? Every one is see is listed at $3000 plus.

Guys
The way this started is that he called about the 2284 that I have for sale. As most of you know that tractor has a brand new Kohler CH22, a new drive shaft, new muffler, fresh paint, new PTO belt, 60” Haban deck, new Hy-Tran and filter, everything works and more than I care to think about. Anyway he starts telling me he has a 1782 and that the only thing wrong with it is that the deck has a couple holes and he would really like to get a Haban for it. So I offer to sell him one of the Haban’s I have. He comes up to my place tries out my 2282 and my 2284 and now he thinks I should trade him even his 1782 for my 2284. I know the diesels are cool but reality time; the engine is an obsolete engine now from what I can find on the Bota engine web site. Looking at the Cub parts site a lot of parts are NLA little things like the injection pump. My guess is the electrical system in this one is rotted to death, he bragged about how he has a Hotsy pressure washer and washes the tractor often. I’m thinking Oh goody its rusted solid.

Tom

I have not seen the one in Amissville. I wasn't looking to buy a diesel, I am trying to sell a couple of the Supers I already have.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
