I had a guy offer to sell me a 7 hp cub today. It has no attatchments and no creeper, just 3 speed with reverse he said. He said it runs good. It dosn't have any fenders on it either, he said he heard that they were an option when they were sold. He thinks it's from the early 60"s. I haven't seen a lot of talk on here about the 7hp ones and know nothing about that model. The price seemed cheap enough at $150.00., but I don't know. I may go look at it next week. Would most of the parts off it fit that 122 I have? Whats your thoughts.

Being that it is a 7 HP..It could be an Original, 70, 71, 72, or a 73. Either model is a rather hard to find model, and is defiantly worth the $150.
![]() Some parts will interchange between your 122 on any of these models, but fewer on an Original...They have a different frame design. It just depends on what "parts" your talking about. A 71 is actually from the same series as a 122, and you would find it is basically the same machine...Besides the seat/fender pan, and the engine. ![]()

Not really...the frame, dash, etc are also different. The hood and grille casting are the same, and that's about it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
