Vince, I am not familiar with a 582 but if it uses the same frame as the 682 & 782 you should be able to install a single cyl K series engine. The frame is built to accept the flat mount or the wide frame type. I put a 12hp in a 682 using a modified wide frame mount. It was a bolt in with no modifications to frame or engine mount. The driveshaft even fits, I don't remember having to change anything just plug it in and go.

Vince , A 1282 has the single cylinder , but i am pretty sure they used some risers on the steel plate. I think MattG installed a single cylinder in his loader tractor , might look at his site.

You'll need the 1210/1211/1204/1282 etc. risers but they can be used with the QL rails.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
