Painting my wheels
Bought a new set of wheels from a fellow member but they looked a little rough. So they spent the night swimming in the electrolosys tank. Then sanding and the wire wheels, followed by three coats of rattlecan white primer. That's all before it got hot. Went out this morning and started the top coats and my danger paint is drying faster than I can spray it. I'm just using valspar gloss white, because I like how it looks. Here is the pic as they came straight out of the box.

I cleaned up my rims the old hard way.
 The steel is in the white after handsanding and was rusting, so I primered with this primer. It realy was nice primer. Good luck!

I was working on it the old way but the inside tire grooves were heavily scaled with rust. The electrolosys worked awesome for getting the scale and rust out. I didn't take the pics after the tank, had to get them cleaned and primed pretty quick to keep the rust from forming back on them. I'll post some pics after the 6 or 7 coats of gloss white. I will say I used rustoleum white primer on the faces, and grey on krylon grey primer on the insides and the white is is doing a much better job. I'm rather excited about getting them done, it will give me an excuse to buy some new tires for them..

yes, the old hard way. i think tommy james and the shondells sang a song about that, dragging the line. you will want to have a clean bead on the rim, but i plan on using tubes so i can load them.
   a basket pully shot, but the same with the rim. nice work, keep us posted.

That stuff is good ! I suspect it's a diluted hydrochloric acid, because it sure burns if you get it on your hands....at least the liquid version does!

Yea John, and for a buck -79, it made mince meat of the pully. All I had to do was pick off some paint with the knife. It was almost like I had the part sandblasted cleaned. The drywall sandpaper realy rocks on the rust man, seriously.

the other good thing about it...
Is that you can get it at the Family Dollar store even cheaper. I get oven cleaner there to clean auto/machine parts and noticed this stuff at discount too.
Just gotta make sure you rinse and rinse and rinse otherwise it will KEEP working. :-) John

OK they are finished waiting for rubber. They have 6 coats of finish paint sanded betweencoats. I think they came out nice save a little pitting on the flat parts.
