Default Locked the rear up in my 1450

Well I was driving my 1450 down to my shed and when I was almost there, it started skipping (like it was getting a load on it). I thought man I better get this thing to the house. I turned it around and went about ten feet and it just stopped. It won`t go forward or reverse .And if you try to go forward it tries to kill the engine. It ain`t the pump cause the hydraulic lift works and it isn't the auto release valves cause I put another set in and it still does the same thing. All I know is it is locked up tighter than a ticks a$$. I`m going to have to take the 420 jd and go pick up the rear and bring it up here tomorrow and get a better look at it.

If yall have any ideas I`d appreciate it if you shared them

Thanks in advance.

Check the drive line first. Maybe something with the drive shaft or bushings.

The pump is turning cause the hydraulic lift works and the drive line is brand new. Plus I tied my 129 to it to see if it would move and all it would do is slide.

Sounds like somethings in the ring gear/reduction gear jamming it up, most likely a broken tooth by the sound of it. First thing I would do is pull the rear cover and check the ring and pinion gears.

The Hyd lift runs off the charge pump. The main piston pump and the piston motor are not out of the question though.

I'd look to see if the brakes are hanging.

I found out what it was the top bearing got hot and seized up cause somebody let it get low on hytran .

Well I fired up John this morning and rescued the 1450 and I let it set with the rear end up in the air all day so the hytran would be forced in the bearing .And luckily it broke the bearing loose.I`m going to let it set a couple days like that and go turn it by hand every once in a while. I`m still going to take the top cover off the trans and inspect the bearing before I run it.

Glad you got that bearing free! I had the rear lock up when i had it but it was only because i had it sitting too long with low Hy Tran (cause i didnt do any rebuild on the rear), but worked fine when i brought her back to ya. Logan told me about it on the phone today. Hope to hear from yall soon so we can start planning for our next trip up!

if the bearing sized I would suggest removing and replacing it before you attempt to run it at all the bearing could cause sever damage to the shaft if it is run before replacing

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
