On my new to my 129, the po replaced one front rim with a brand spanking new cub rim, but had it tubed. The tires are so new, the little rubber mold left overs haven't worn off yet. The other rim is in need of a fresh coat of paint, but since I see it too is tubed with a nice new tire I'm curious what folks do typically wih these tubeless by design tires? The tube is leaking at the base of the valve and only appears to hold air for about a day. I think I'm leaning toward getting a nice new rim to match the other but would like to know others opinions.

Tubes are cheaper than wheels and they should last a very long time. I don't see any downside to a tube.

I agree, I have tubes in all my front tires now, used to have to check them and add air every couple of weeks. Now i check them once or twice a year.

I agree with everyone else if you are installing tires on the rims stick tubes in.

I'm the rebel then....I go tubeless, unless there is a dry rot tire that has lots of tread life left on it. I figure I can always add the tube later on if needed. I check mine once a year and the tires are usually fine.

I just had a front tire replaced on the 147 and I wanted a tube put in but the guy mounting it said that it could be tubeless so I said go ahead as long as it doesn't leak. About a month + later it is still holding air just fine. If I need a tube I can always put one in.

I have plans to run tubes in the model 72 as I wish to load the tubes anyway.

I ended up ordering a brand new wheel with new bearings and valve stem. The dealer did the swap for me and tubless worked. I couldn't get the old rim to look as good as a new one and since there was a brand new one on the other side, felt it would look better with a matching set.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
