Default No spark 149

Good evening, I'm having some trouble with my 149. I was mowing the lawn this evening and the tractor died at full throttle as if I had turned the key off. I tested for spark, no spark. Replaced plug still no spark. Put test light on positive on the coil and turned the key on, light goes on so there's power. Cranked motor over with test light on negative and there was no light. Does anyone have any idea, I could really use your help. What further testing can be done to get this figured out, the lawn is partly mowed and it seems to grow like no tomorrow with all this rain!!!

Ed

sounds as if you have a dead coil or if it has an external condenser that may have failed either way it would be wise to put a new blue coil on it with an internal condenser

I dont have the link I am sure some one else here does

If it is any consolation I had a dead battery today so I put it on charge and went to do other things came back 30 min later to the coil smoking and blowing oil out of the now broken top I had left the key in the ON position (DOHHH)

Lesson learned " TURN KEY OFF" when its not running

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
