Default New old O (with pix )

Bought another O today.... of course it doesn't run but it DOES have fenders, and it was very cheap and most all there...seems to be missing only top engine tin , It includes a rusty deck that has good spindles , belts , hangars, etc... Will go get it tomorrow, but it's paid for.

My long suffering wife is not going to be overjoyed... :-)

John

PS: Its also mostly red!

What's mostly red?.....the cub, the wife, or you?

Great addition. It will be up and running in no time! Glad to hear of your recent purchase and look forward to seeing those pics.

Default The cat dragged this home...

Well... it's not much to look at ....and the color sure is similar to O#1 ... meaning, pretty ugly! Motor turns but somethings wrong... PO put rings in and now "it wont crank". One major issue is the threads in the exhaust port are not good since someone broke off the better part of an existing pipe inside the head. Can this be "helicoiled" , or is it trash? The frame looks uncracked, and the trans shifts easily . The deck is rusty but the spindles spin freely. Kinda neat that it still has the reflectors on the fenders.

Just what I needed, another project!

John

PS: The SN seems to be 6 digits, if I read correctly, which is of course wrong. Is the reduction drive for an O the same as other cubs?
---> Correction... it's August 1961 (15451) Cool!

The 123 did yeoman duty hauling the trailer back to it's appointed spot.

Congrats on the "O". It does look pretty complete. From what I can recall the reduction gear is not the same as for the other cubs.

As it turns out. the O and my usually even tempered wife.... :-) :-)

If I bought a normally red cub, the previous owner would have probably painted it yellow!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
