Exclamation some problems with my 1100

I just bought a 1100 model cub for $300.00, my story is what I have read on here before.....it started with the key and ran when jumped off from the battery.....when I got it home it would not turn over...I put a new selanoid on it and still the same thing. I can put the cables on the starter and it will crank and run every time...I now know that there is a safety switch under the mower....when I hold down the safety switch and turn the key it will start....MY QUESTION IS:what is supposed to go against the switch to activate it (pics of your set up would be great).MY YEAR MODEL QUESTION IS: what year is this ser# found on the side of frame? 2050590u661814. QUESTION ABOUT REAR GEARS: when I try to go up a steep hill only the right tire will spin, I have a 60'' pull behind mower I will be using with this cub so is there an easy way to make possitive traction? MOTOR QUESTION: it has a brigs motor that smokes pretty good...the code #on the motor shroud starts with 94 so I was told it is a 1994 motor (dont know hp yet) ........... would i need to rebuild it or would it be better to go with bigger motor or try to find a some what origanal year motor.

Welcome to OCC!!

The best way to get positive traction is to get some positive tires!!

I will leave the engine question to the other guys.

The 1100 came with a 11hp Briggs.
I would swap a Kohler in it!

And load them for added weight, or drink lots of beer and eat lots of pizza

Doesn't the 1100 also have the weak Peerless trans? Isn't it considered a lawn tractor because of this?

It does have the peerless trans that can also be swapped for a CI rear. If you wish to do this kind of overhaul send me a pm as im parting out a 102.

A lot of parts for that Briggs engine are NLA...it would be best to find a Kohler from a similar vintage CC 1000/1200/1250/1450/1650 and use that.

Wheel weights and fluid in the tires will help too. You are starting off at a disadvantage because the rearend in the 1100 is significantly lighter than the normal rearend found in the rest of the Cub Cadet garden tractors.

I would load the tires as already suggested and use wheel weights combined.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
