Default cc 123 trouble
i rebuilt the carb. new high rev needle, throttle bushing, float valve. soaked it in cleaner. new points and points push rod. new coil and condenser. set valve gaps to spec. new spark plug. set the timing with multimeter. hard time starting. in and out with choke to get her going and as soon as she does i need to ease the throttle up quickly to keep her running. when turning over she rolls over fires and squeaks and does this every time she turns over. gapped points to .020 and it seemed to help. but she still takes time to start. before and after that though when she was running, she ran real smooth for about 20 minutes and then started to dog down and reving her up at that time bogged her even more so i would back the throttle off to idle and then she would die.

Sounds like you need a new headgasket.Do you have any pictures of the head?preferably the area by the front by the muffler.

not yet but that was my next move was to pull the head, decarbonize, check valve seats, cylinder wall and rings. when i pulled the valve cover there was some oil sitting in there. normal?

I pulled the cover off a K321 Friday, I had oil and wondered the same thing!!

and is this valve breather area the same area that the crankcase breaths/vents through? if not, where would the crankcase breather be on a k301?
