Had to replace a crank seal in the k301. While I have the engine out, I'm replacing the flex joints on the drive shaft, iso mounts and doing the engine cradle mod. When I took the shaft out, the bushing for the drive shaft at the engine end fell and was laying loose in the housing. What holds the bushing in place? I can't find a good picture to see how all this goes together. There was a ball at the hydro end. Is there supposed to be a ball at the engine end, too? I want to fix it the way it's supposed to be. Sorry I don't have pictures, the grass is growing fast and I need to get this back together ASAP! Thanks for any help.

The bushing ball might need to be replaced. They do wear out so you'll have to check for wear. There is only the ball on the transmission side of the drive shaft.
Parts look up for a 1250. http://www.cubcadet.com/webapp/wcs/s...A/040019100017 Updated for the correct model. |

Sorry, I looked at that link but that's not the correct drive shaft for the 1250 Quietline series.
My concern is at the engine side of the drive shaft. When I took the drive shaft out the bushing fell between the housing and the flywheel. It looks like something is missing. What holds the bushing in place? I realize the drive shaft does, but there is too much room behind the bushing. It looks like there should be something between the bushing and engine. There's nothing to keep the bushing against the housing where the coupler attaches. |

You need #4 in the pic below, I had to replace the one on my 1250.
![]() #50 is the ball bearing that is placed at the transmission side. Cubcadet link: http://www.cubcadet.com/webapp/wcs/s...A/040019100014

It's worn out and has fallen out. The new one will be held in place correctly. Looks just like the one I had.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
