Default 782 Hydro valves

I have a 782 with a valve leaking out the hole in top. Is this a o-ring leak or is it something else? With the tractor running you can see the fluid coming from the little hole in the top. Any ideas?

I had this problem last year. All the info you need is in this thread. I ordered mine and go them in about 3 weeks. They did not have them in stock, they were back ordered.

Or look on ebay for the new rebuildable valves that are now available. In the future you'll be able to simply pop out a snap ring and replace the o-rings yourself for a few bucks.

Hi Brent,

A local dealer told me he often cured that leak by using an impact hamer on top of the valves to jar loose any derbies that got stuck in the valves.

Don't know if it works or not, I never tried it.

Sounds like the tale I heard about an official dealer fix being to plug up the top hole with JB Weld, stopping the leak and rendering the valve useless.

Default Same problem with my 1811

I have the same issue with my 1811. I'm trying the guy on eBay that rebuilds them for $35.00 each. He has good feedback...I'll have to see what I get back. Hard to argue with $74.95 for both valves versus $121.20 new, although *that* is an excellent price.

Price them out at your dealer and you'll see that's a good price. For me for the price diffrence and the work I'm putting new in but that's me.

I used his service and it was very quickly done. All the internals are worked over and the valves are like new. As I mentioned above, this is the same guy who is now offering rebuildable valves, where the end clip becomes a removable piece and the o-rings can be replaced for just a buck or two.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
