Default finally back to the 1250

Gents, and ladies too,
I am finally back around to working on the 1250 with the starter problems. I went through the checklists that everyone sent along and all looks good. 12v to the starter, 12v at the solenoid, click of the starter but no turn over unless I give it a nudge with a pry bar on the flywheel (i know, not the smartest idea). When the starter is removed and powered the solenoid kicks in and spins.
So, I am thinking I need a new starter. Now it looks like all the big parts guys are either in Illinois, MN or PA. Is there no one in NC? I know there is a dealer here in Charlotte but every time I go there I am reminded what getting screwed feels like. I would like a nice rebuilt or new if anyone local has one they would let go of or know where I could get one reasonably close.

Give the commutator a good cleaning, undercut the mica if necessary, and install new brushes and your current starter will probably be fine.

Default found one

Yep, well not really. I just took the one that has been cranking my 1450 and put it on. No joy, same thing but I did notice that the gear on the end of the starter is still engaged with the engine flywheel. I'll take it off and see what comes of it.

Not sure about the problem but if it comes to having the starter rebuilt give City Auto Electric a call. They might be able to work it out for you. Not saying ive ever used them for cub stuff but they have done an alternator rebuild very well for me! That said they are pretty simple already had the one off my 1200 apart and really just cleaned it up sparyed some lube and it was good to go, my brushes looked okay though! Goid luck and let us know how it goes!

I have not read your original problem, but have you tried putting jumper cables directly to the starter,Red to terminal post & ground to the starter body?
This will tell you if the starter is bad or not, before you go to unnecessary work/expense.
(use another 12V. battery like your truck/car)

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
