Default 1650 worth it???

I found a 1650 running and in good shape has been used to mow up until last year. Im going to go see it and may buy but was unsure of price. This will be my first wide frame and have been reading a lot about them and the 1650's. Future plan for this tractor is to build a loader for it. They are asking $600 for it. What do y'all think?

I'd say it's worth that in my opinion. I see 1650's bring that and more as long as the paint is nice and no real issues. They have hydro lift, lights, and a 16hp Kohler so them and the 1450 are usually worth a little more than the other QL's. Check the motor mounts (see if motor shakes around while its running or not). Even if it does shake some, not impossible to put new mounts in.

Too many variables to give you an accurate answer.

This guy said the tractors ran, they wouldn't when I got there, I got all three for about half the price you stated!!

Other people ask $2500 for them!!??

Use your best judgment and bargaining skills when you get there.

The main issues with QL's are, worn out engine ISO mounts. Worn out drive shaft components. Worn hydro trunion. All of these issues are not really big issues to deal with mechanically, but it can add up $$$ quickly. But, once mechanically sound, it will outlast anything that is sold in box stores today, and probably give good service for the next 25-30 years with good preventative maintenance before needing major service again. Also it will still be cheaper in the long run to put the $$$ into it than to purchase a new $2k or $3K unit that will be worn out in 5 years or less.

I've seen this one listed as well. I think they are a little high. Your going to have to put ISO mounts in it as soon as you get it and those are $80 from the cub dealer. When you go look at it get down on one knee on the right side near the front and look at the front left ISO mount. You'll be able to feel and see how much the ISO mount is compressed.

So true DWayne! One thing to keep in mind is that ISO mounts are a wearable item like brake pads. Over time you'll have to change them. Personally I like the feel of the cub cadet ISO mounts over the Moog mounts you get off eBay. I've tried them both and the cub ISO mounts are better. Trust me when I say the Moog's are still laying on my garage floor. Wasted $20 on them.

Thanks for the heads up on the 1650. I like the look of it but I thought $600 was a little much. He did not sound like he would give much on the price either

If it seems too good to be true, we all here have found out that the right one always pops up eventually. You might give the WF's 1X8/1X9 and the 82 series GT's a good looking at. The 82's run Kohler Twin cylinders and are smooth running. The WF's are easy to work on and maintain.

The longer he sits on it the cheaper it'll get unless he gets it in running order and address the ISO mounts and drive line to make sure there are no issues there.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
