Default Shifter replacement in 124

Hi guys,

Does anyone know what oil goes in the tranny?

I am putting the shifter back on and there is 1/2 ++ inch of oil on the bottom.
I am assuming there should be a little more?

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Roy

It's probably time to drain the old oil out and put in some fresh. It takes Hytran from Cub Cadet.

If I dump the current fluid. Is there any reason I cannot fill through the top of the shifter plate before I put her back together? hat seems easier than pumping.
I assume the axle would gravity feed?

No reason that you can't do it that way.

Excellent!

I am thankful for the advice as when I drained the tranny over 25% was pure water as it had been sitting for a couple of weeks.

Amazing !

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
