I got my 782 home today . It's really rough and needs some TLC. Rod threw the block and been sitting outside for quite awhile. Shifter won't move, hygraulic lever won't move, brake pedal was froze. I sprayed all moving parts with blaster and letting it soak for a few days. If it turns out this thing is worth saving I have a 16HP V-Twin Briggs to drop in. Brucer95 (son) told me some on here have done it. Anyhow I'm going to save her if I can.

You have a doable project tractor. (reminds me of the 147 that I drug home last summer.) Lots of time and dollars and you can have a great tractor. Will be watching your progress if you decide to get into this one.
Regards, Chris

red56turbo,The last 6 numbers are679505. The only reason I am considering the Briggs is because I allready have a very low hour 16 V-Twin. But I'm not 100% sure I'll use it. I'll just have to get started on this project and see were it leads.

I'm sure you realize this, but just to make sure...your shifter won't move because your brake pedal is locked in the down position. There is a small lever on the brake pedal with notches on it that should be rotated to release the brake pedal. I can see from the pic that it is in the locked position. Unlock the brake and see if the shifter will move.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
