Default Hello, I'm Jay Ince in Fort Worth, Texas...

I am looking forward to the advice and insight OCC offers. Having read a little of what you guys share, it's sure to be a valued resource to me and my Cubs... I have had a 102 for years, a family heirloom, unrestored and original, still ready for anything. I also have a late model Cub Z-54 ZTR with a liquid cooled Kawasaki v-twin, and just got a honey of a 680 hydro with 220 hrs. from the original owner that has sat up for 4-5 years and needs a little TLC. Still has all 4 chrome caps ! I look forward to talking with you, thanks!

Default to Diz Jr. and ACecil...

Thank you, My Cub stable does stand humbled compared to so many of the awesome tractors you and so many other members here have... My 102 was bought new by my grandfather, Grover Ince, and it was a thing of great pride to him. I am 46 now, and every time I turn the key and feel it rumble to life I feel like the happy kid I was, sitting in his lap and steering, so long ago. I have considered stripping and restoring it, but... the wear of time it shows is sort of a special thing to me, you know? My Z-54 is a fine mowing machine, but has nothing of the soul of the old thumper. Nice to know others understand the simple beauty of the old Cubs....

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
