Default 11 1/2 hrs. later, we have a 147

Well we were on the road at 7:30 this morning headed for Minnesota in search of a lonely 147. And brought her back to join the rest of the crew.
Man it was a long eleven hours for this boy.
It's got the electric lift that will make lifting my implements a whole lot easier. The PO said it's got an electric problem, he forgot how to put it back together after taking it apart. At least I know it runs, he drove it on the truck, but he told me it doesn't charge. It has a rebuilt S.G. and 3pt. and 48" deck that's in real nice shape. I think I did pretty good on it.
I'll get better pictures tomorrow. Now I have the 7h, 10h, 12, and 14h tractors in my fleet of "classic" tractors.

Nothing like a good road trip to find a great Cub. It looks good. Is a good thing you did that storage expansion huh?

Zippy sweet find on the 147. Gee that is one heck of a road trip. I would really like to find a nice 147 or a 149. Got yourself quite a collection started. Keep up the good work.

DWayne, the storage shed is filling up fast, but it's all good.

Vince, the PO told me everything did work until he "fixed" it and now he can't figure out the wiring on it. I'm hoping to get at it early next week and find out more about it.

Cubs, I liked the looks of the 147, but I now notice there is something different with the headlights compared to pictures I've seen. There is no headlight rings, or emblem, and I'm wondering if the headlight panel wasn't home-made. When I get it off the truck I'll be able to tell better.

Zippy,
the 147 is a great tractor.I had one that the PO took off the e lift because of the cost of replacing the gear.Nice find, you beat me by 5 hours on your drive time.
Cubs and bxrs.

Nice score, it looks like a dandy. I just found my 147 a few days ago, and I almost feel guilty having driven just 13 miles to pick it up.

I agree about the 147's, they have a great look and interesting history with those frame gussets to hold the big 14's flywheel. Shoot us a pic of the headlight panel, I think mine is original.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
