Default New Hydro Adventure
Hello
Well I removed the covers from the hydro and saw that the fluid was the darkest I've run across, but the area not covered in fluid (which was very low) had a thick rubbery pea green coating over everything.Carburetor cleaner would'nt make a dent in it without using a wire brush.I called a Case/IH dealer I do business with and I asked him about this situation and he told me to pressure wash the inside, he said it would do not harm as long as I dry it back out with an air compressor. Looks like I'll be rebuilding of the pump motor also because of the oild hytran. I was curious why a po had spot welded a threaded rod on to the outside of the lift, maybe he should have done a common sense thing and checked the fluid level. Wish me luck on bringing this baby in to good working order. I'm glad I've already been through this 3 years ago and I might as well the the trunion arm over to the welder and get that fixed also. Maybe this 1650 will be the machine that runs like new/looks like CRAP.

Good luck!!!
You are going to rebuild the pump block ect?,the hydro itself? sounds like a project,and big bucks,I think Id look for a used one!!!
Pea green sludge,havent seen that one yet!!!

I'm with 67hydro...don't waste your money. I priced a few internals when I had a bad one...it'll cost you several times what the tractor is worth to rebuild the hydro unit...start looking for a good used one. Motor cylinder block alone is nearly $800.

I misstated about rebuilding I'm going to have to dismantle the pump and clean it (I Hope) if the internal parts are damaged I'll go the used replacement route, My neighbor has been trying to give me his ported pump he wanted to put on his 129 for hydraulic lift but decided not to, so I guess I could go that route and just swap pumps. after all the hassel with the trunion arm repair on the 1450 I would rather swap them out. Thanks for the suggestions because I can then play with the old pump some time later.

Almost sounds like it had a leak and someone filled it with Slime.

I agree with the guys, taking it apart, cleaning everything, and putting it back together sounds like an good interesting wintertime project. As for now, I would find a used one and put it in.
