I saw some odd things about it like the spindles are not like any spindles iv've seen on a O and the the serial number i could not read because of the paint but i saw a 1and a 8 on it were the number is.I'll upload pics later it won't upload for some reson? The spindle have a bolt holding them in not a coller or roll pin.

Only the early originals use the collars to hold the spindles. Sometime in 1961, they changed the the bolt style.

To bad you can't read the serial number. It's got a early 61 dash tower. AJ's spot on with the spindles. I can't see what type of starter gen bracket it has on it. Do you remember what it looks like? Thanks for posting pics of your freinds O! It looks great! I hope mine looks that good when I'm done with it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
