I got this 1200 last spring and used it as a workhorse this summer. This was my first chance to get some seat time this winter when we got about 4-5" of fresh snow last night. Just put the new narrow tri-ribs on the front 2 weeks ago. 1st gear all the way without any problems, just chains with cleats and the "low rider" seat (no seat springs) that was put on by PO.....I guess to keep the rider low from flying lead by the enemy?

My 127 with 42" snow blower has been a big help this year. I mostly use a '59 Cub loboy with 54" blade but I have run out of room to push some of the snow. The Cub does a great job of piling up the snow, and then I use the 127 to throw it over the existing snow piles.

I replaced the bearings on the auger and in the 90* gear box, but the housing needs to be cleaned up before next winter.

I used to plow my driveway with this tractor and I always had problems with the steering so I bought these knobby tires and they work great.

1250 setup and doing snow duty! I got it as a basic 1250, I added side panels and lights and have a hydraulic lift here to add. Next Winter I'll add more rear weights and front rib tires. Had those on another brand tractor and they worked great.

Just got into Cubs this past Fall and the more I use it the more I like it!

Here are two pictures of my 1959 Cub loboy with wheel weights and tire chains. One snow storm was about 10 inches deep, the other was about 6 inches and wet.

And here is the 127 in action.

Default Icing on thrower and plow blade from engine heat

Our 105 has had an on going issue with icing;on the thrower chute, and on the plow. I made a plate out of aluminum to replace the grill & fit the grill opening. I bent the top 1/3 of the plate( from just above the upper spring hole) @ 45 deg. away from the engine. So the hot air from the engine is deflected up and away from the implements. I was a little concerned that this was putting heat in places it didn't belong, but with temps as cold as -20f I'm willing to risk it. My other option is to put the grill in backwards. The louvers then deflect the hot air up. I use steel backed neoprene gromet washers with the grill in backwards to make up the spring's reach discrepancy. This last option works better with the plow than with the thrower, but an improvement either way. Good Luck

Thought this might be an appropriate thread to pull from mothballs and see some updated "snow ready" cubs! It has some really cool looking Snow Cubs already.

Great thread Cub Cadet 123! I'm going to have to update it once the 72 gets some action! Last season was my 1450 with IH 42" snow plow. This season is the model 72 with IH 56" snow plow!

Speaking of IH snow plows, there are some nice 7' IH snow blades here, and a lot of snow equipment and set ups! Great ideas here! Also, some of the OCC members that were here long before a lot of us were.

Bring on the SNOW!!!!!

This is my outfit from last year.

Mine is not snow ready yet this season but getting there. After last year being my first winter with cubs, this year I know a little better how to prepare and what is needed besides chains and a battery tender.

First off, this season traction will be more than 26# weights and 4 link chains. Got these Carlise and going to fill them with washer fluid once the rims dry and add even more weight to them.

I'm also in the middle of a complete overhaul of my qa36. Going through all mechanical aspects with new bearings, shims, and a fresh coat of paint. Might even try to wax the inside so snow can't stick to the auger and in the chute. Once complete, the next project will be to make the other 127 into a plowing machine but since I don't have a driveway anymore, it's kind of on the back burner.

Also updated the 127 this summer with a new wiring harness, battery with more CCA, and LED lights to see better throwing snow.

I must say my cubs have come a long way in the last year and I credit most of it to seeing what you gentlemen do with your cubs. Thanks, I get very excited to see what other member and using their cubs for and I do with mine.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
