sorry my grammer and punctuation sucks ill try again. i have a old carrier reffer unit off a semi trailer 4 cyl diesel but the motor is physically too big. i have 2 loboys the 154 runs and drives i have also a 184 that i have robbed parts off of im thinking about using a 1650 or similar trans flip the charge pump so i can rotate it backwards then flip the carrier to make the tractor travel the rite direction and use the loboy final drives ... did that help didnt mean to confuse ya.... starting to think i confused myself lol

If you put the hydro in the 184, you won't have to flip the ring gear. Just the charge pump. It gets kind of confusing..... but I'm pretty sure. Remember, the ring gear on the Cubs runs backwards from the Cub Cadets because of the finals. If you reverse the direction of the hydro, it should set it up backwards, and that is what you need it to do for the 184.

Welcome to the lo-boy club! I love mine, wish it had the 3-pt and a pto, but someday. I want to put a front blade on it and some tire chains for those enormous turfs to make firewood hauling easier.
My father has 2, 1 restored and 1 a running basket case. He uses the restored one for regular mowing at his house, amusing because the yard is fairly small. I'd like to take the basket case one and make a hydro/3 range out of it, putting a charge pump in between the engine and drive clutch and keeping the gear shift tranny in the back. I'm sure its considerably more complicated than I'm imagining it to be, but it would be a fun 3-gen project when my dad retires and my daughter is old/interested enough. hope you have a lot of fun with it!

Well guys......
I got another one. I really liked the wide tires on the 185, but I want AGs on it. I priced them for the fat tires and YIKES So I priced the AGs for the skinny tires and they were almost half price. I don't mind the narrower tire for what I'm going to do with it anyway. So, I found this jewel on FB a week ago last Friday. Guy was asking $1500 for it. I waited. This weekend, he dropped the price to $800. Called him today, and he said he wanted it gone. Shot me a price wayyyyy under that. I said "Be right there!". It has the skinny tires, and wheel weights!! I'm going to swap tires, get it in good working order and sell it. No other options, and it need some work, but the guy swore he had it running. He didn't say how long ago though.

You know what that means, Johnathon; if you've got two sets of turf tires, it's time for duals!!

Two Lo-Boy's, it never rains but pours, congrats!

Thanks guys!
My friend was trying to talk me into keeping it......
If I was going to do that, SOMETHING has to go. I've bout spent all the fund money on purchases, and don't have anything left for repairs!

The two would make one good one......
Wonder about putting a hydro in the 154.... snowplow blade on front....

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
