Nice job. In my quest to get the top 5 rarest cubs I paid 14 times that for my 126 but I'm insane and have a strange goal. Do your homework and make that thing new again, it deserves it. Seriously you did good and post plenty of pics because we all look forward to them. You're missing a few pieces but they are easily attainable.

Nice find and deal. The 126 is a very nice tractor. I've got one and depending on how things go over the next few days, it may become front and center for some refurbing and needed updates.
Don't know what your terrain is like, but in my neck if the wood, the 2nd gear is a little fast, but I can really knock out some grass quickly with it. I believe your deck is a 48 inch - same as mine. The 12 hp engine handles it with ease. Again, nice find and great deal! Good luck, Bill

I'll second that. Looks like a 48er to me too.

You might swapping out the condenser. If your points look good, that might not be the problem, but it too is a wear item. I got rid of the clear fuel bowl on my 126. I found at NAPA a 90 degree shut-off valve (don't recall the part number) with a pipe thread and screwed it into the tank. I put an inline filter just downstream of it - no leaks.

These tractors/motors do not use oil filters. I believe leeave96 was referring to a fuel filter.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
