126
I just found a all original 126 in the old garage across the road from me. The guy sold it to me for 25 bucks. Everything is in good shape hasn't ran in 20yrs but was rebuilt before parked. Anything to watch for? Was this a good deal?

That is not a buy that is a steal. sure glad for you to get it at that price. No travel costs either.
If I were going to tear into that project. I would: 1. remove gas tank and clean very well. 2. Remove and closely inspect gas lines to carb if metal, clean it out also, if rubber I would discard and replace with new. If it has a filter get a new one if a sediment bowl take apart and clean thoroughly. 3. Remove air filter and replace. 4. Remove the carberater disassemble and clean thoroughly. 5. Buy a new battery and install. 6. Thoroughly inspect all the wiring and be sure it is wired correctly. 7. Remove the points cover and check points for pitting and corrosion. 8. Remove spark plug and clean or replace. 9. Check choke and throttle to be sure they are working. 10. Check for critter nests especially under rear engine shroud. 11. Try turning engine over by hand if free I would at this point change the oil and put some gas in and give it a go. 12. Change rear tranny fluid before running under power. |
Thank u paul ill get some pics up as soon as i figure out how too im sure ill have lots of questions

I have spent more than that in coffee and breakfast to go get worse.

Heck ya! That's one heck of a deal. Ya can't even buy a couple grease zerks for that price anymore......:biggrin2:

Are the 126s worth much or prettty common with the mower deck still in tack

The 126 is a very rare cub (by the production numbers of that model). You are going to really enjoy that cub when it is up and going. I think it is the 4th rarest by the numbers...maybe 3rd. Anyway, I really like mine and if it has been in storage for 20 years, it may be in really good shape for its age. Now, let's see about some pics so we can drool over them. Just save them as .jpg files on your computer and then click on the paper clip icon shown above, browse, upload and ok button.....then you're good!

Awesome find! Glad you happened upon it.
I've always wondered what's in the barns and old garages around each of us...makes you think. :) |
