Thanks, Matt, for the info. I was hoping you'd share your thoughts about this. I just need to figure out how I can have a tractor for every occasion. Let's see, there's mowing, plowing, tilling, front-loading. What else? OK, that's 4 tractors. Not so bad, eh? Heck, I suppose I could even use one these 4 tractors for the snowblower attachment in Winter. How would a guy ever get by with just one tractor? lol

Best to have a dedicated FEL tractor. With the P.F. engineering plans you could design a tractor to use the mower deck, plow, till or what ever. I would take a trip to the kubota or John Deere dealership and look how they have the loaders on a small cut tractor and copy that design.

My thoughts after having my Kwik-way loader on 2 different tractors:

SGT is probably the way to go, but 99% of the loaders out there have a bucket narrower than an SGT. Someday my 682 will probably get the PS from a cyclops tractor. My loader used to be on a gear drive, and that sucked. Hydro is the way to go. I used an 82 series because they are really easy to work on, which is important, because the loader gets in the way of working on a lot of stuff. None of them go on or off very easy; it's a two-person job, and I feel it's best to have a dedicated loader tractor. If you have a manual lift tractor, remove the lift handle, as it'll just be in the way if you don't.

Also, a lot of loaders that you'll find are going to have a really kludged-together subframe. This was the case with mine, and I started from scratch, designing one that would be more than sufficient to handle the loads and never damage the tractor. Details are on my website if you are curious.
Matt thanks for the input!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't the new KwikWay's have a quick attach feature? Not too familiar with Kwikway's so I don't know much about the older ones.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for multiple cubs for multiple jobs. Heck, I've got nine or so now.

Wow, Josh...that would be fantastic if Kwik-way had a quick attach set-up. Anyone know for sure?

Mooner,
Last fall when I was looking for a loader and feeling out options, someone mentioned it in one of the posts. IIRC, they pulled some pins and the loader separated from the frame. The mounting frame stayed on the tractor, but the loader arms and bucket came off. Maybe it was a mod that someone did also. CRS, dang it! Hopefully someone else remembers and will chime in.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
