Yeah great find and great price also. Cradle mod and new ISO mounts and you're in business. You going to rebuild the engine to take care of the smoking?

I dunno, maybe its just the fact you cant see the engine making it look hard to work on. Engine has to come out, smokes pretty heavily except at idle. You can tell it is a 16, man it has some torque.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pn_Z...ature=youtu.be here is the video he posted on the ad look down to the left and right you will see some smoke. He was pretty good at filming so it didn't show as much as it does in person, lol.

Shop smells like gas this AM, no puddles underneath, cranked right up. Lights wont come on but all work with a jumper wire. Still cant believe the hydro is clean and dry underneath, even the release valves are dry.
Carb has half throttle to wide open, dies at idle. I'll look at engine mounts at the parts store I used to run, I'm thinkin of trying bird legs mounts rubbers Chevy used in the late 50s early 60s n the front of V8s, they are softer than the Moog sway bar rubbers.
I really didn't have the $$$ to spend for this right now, prop taxes are due 10th next month and need a tank of propane for the shop heater, but had to have a 1650 that was Lew priced and 5 miles away.

Sounds like carb is messed up. If you get that working better might help the smoke problem. I would do that, change the head gasket, change the oil .
if you can't hear knocking sounds, I say it's worth messing with and you don't have to spend much money to try

Quietline looks hard to work on
Quietlines aren't that hard to work on. If I can figure them out, most people should have no problem.

I agree with everyone who has recommended the replacement of the ISO mounts. Do the engine modification and change the mounts. When I changed the mounts in my 1250 Nightmare, I used the genuine Cub Cadet mounts and haven't been sorry. Once they were properly adjusted, the tractor is a sweet machine.

You have yourself a sweet machine! Plenty of power, rare dual stick option and, IMHO, the prettiest Cub Cadet ever built. You got a great deal! Congratulations.

Thanks guys. Pulled the broken muffler box off today, muffler has fell off, might be repairable, PTO works, head gasket leaking all across the front. May pull the head and look. Carb is definitely leaking, is the kit the same for #26 and 30? If so I have a kit on hand. Still no power to lights or PTO, haven't pulled the tank yet-this is the first one I brought home that already ran when I brought it home. Drove it up in the truck.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
