Needing points help
Ok this is my first go with points...My 70 points were the first I had ever messed with the only thing I did was clean and check them with a gauge and they were good to go.The 129 I brought home yesterday may be a different story.Ive been chasing my tail trying to get fire since yesterday and finally got it to the coil.But still no spark at the plug.I pulled the points cover and noticed that that they were closed and when I turn the engine over the rod does not move keeping the points closed like its stuck.Here comes the list of stupid questions about this.1 does the rod itself pull out of the block.2 is it the camshaft that moves the rod in and out to open and close the points.3 what should I do at this point.The goal of this tractor was to maybe make a mower out of or a tiller tractor out of it for my parents.Im just trying to get it running in general to see if its worthy without a total rebuild if a total rebuild is in order I'll probably just park it for now and continue on with our 70 project..Sorry for the stupid questions.
