Thanks everybody. I always enjoy reading the responses. He's asking $650 just to let you know. I didn't want you wondering all night...I might be able to talk him down to $500 but I'm not sure. I had him down to $550 over the phone. Regarding needing one for all the season....as you may notice, I already have a good number of them, just not one of these. LOL

Nope. Not unless he got on it and operated it. Would not even consider two hundred until I went and checked it out. And as far as that goes, I have been around long enough to see some stunning Quiet Line models that were worth well over a thousand dollars. The fact is this, no one most of the time, will get every penny back that was put into the tractor making it look good. Either you commit and make the long term investment, or get out of the road. I'm afraid I'd thumb up my nose for an offer of a thousand for my 1450. At which point in time, the prospective buyer is free to go spend 15-2 grand on a box store junk brand with no customer service station.

Here is what I paid for my QLs. 1200- free. 1250 with hydro lift- 100. 1450 with blown motor and jenky snow blower and mower deck- 200 (yeah too much but I "wanted" it).. But I dont buy or own trailer queens either. Id never pay 500 let alone 600 for a QL. I would if it had a rear lift, tiller, dozer blade, snow blower, mower deck and all the parts for a brinly adapter. If it had a FEL id be on it like stink on... you know what. There are to many of them around that "look rough" but are hard working machines!! There is a 1200 10 miles from me right now for 150 (he is down from 250) on CL. I want it, but dont need it. If it goes to 100 im on it. Its a barn find also. But he knows nothing about it. Bought it at an auction. Thats the kind of machines I like. To each their own though. Just adding my $0.02
Take care. John |

If its a QL I would immediately plan on needing new ISO mounts, craddle mod, and DS biscuits at minimum. There's plenty of labor and cost involved in that.
It does LOOK nice, but I wouldn't go over $500, especially with a motor that smokes. If you want to keep it around for a long time, I would count on it needing $500-$750 of repairs including an engine rebuild. $1300 for a nice and correctly repaired (because you did it) QL with a new motor is pretty decent, IMHO, if you're planning to work some money out of it over several years. |

Likely because it's watered down. A seller on my local C/L likes to try to sell crappy old bicycles for big $$ by watering them down/WD40-ing them first to make them look more appealing in pics.
Just something to think about and watch out for.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
