I prefer the naked all natural look to the carb--it makes the cub have more eye candy appeal and a better l@@k!!<img src="images/smilies/Biggr...img" />....and for the same reason that was already mentioned.

They were painted at the factory. Are you going for functional or original look?

Which is why I paint mine. Never causes me any trouble. If it needs rebuilt again, I strip it anyway. I'm not trying to persuade. Like was mentioned, doesn't really matter, it's personal preference. On truck carbs (Holley's, Edelbrock, Rochesters) I don't paint them. But tractor carbs I do.

Painting a carb is kinda tricky cause it wants to corrode and push the paint off.
Like galvanized eave troughs. That is what gutters were made of way back when the Cub Originals were new!. |

I guess it boils down to whatever blows your skirt up. I myself prefer the look of a nice cleaned up carb.

Just my 2 cents but as long as they work as they should I couldn't care less what they look like.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
