Wish you lived closer, I'd buy it, repower it, slap a new drive shaft it and it would be good for 10-15 more years.

All you have to worry about is repowering it I already replaced the drive shaft and starter, fuel pump. I'm now thinking to get more closer to my goal I might as well throw the other motor into it then the tractor alone should be worth? If I then rebuild the kohler magnum I could a good price from that a good on is very rare and expensive.

Man, I wished you lived here in the South! I sold a push blade for $150 and a n 1863 with a broken front axle is $350 on CL and it hasn't run in a year along with a lot of rust. I believe that location is the deciding factor in most Cub sales but engine condition is next. The thing about the 1811 is that it has everything that the GT has but cost a lot less. If you want the four way aux hydraulics then go with a JD 318 and then you have PS, aux hyd, three point hitch available cheap and power lift deck. The down side to them is the Onan smoker motor. The ideal tractor for me would be a nice JD 318 with a bad motor for about $300. Then I would buy the B&S Vanguard conversion kit for $1200 and have a killer tractor that can add all kinds of accessories.

Woody, I think the 1811 is one of the best GT's built by Cub.
I had this one for a few short years and it was my goto machine. I sold it for around $1200. It had a 50" deck and nothing else with around 1200 hours. DSC01804.jpg I picked this one up that sat outside for years and doesn't run. I paid a little under $200 and still have it out in the barn....someday I will get to it. DSC02266.jpg I picked this one up in June of this year. It was on CL for over a week. It runs but has a blown head gasket with 782 hours. It has a complete cat 0 hitch and I paid $300. 1811-1.jpg Prices are all over the place on these things. If you have a price you want to get out of it, stick to it, sooner or later it will sell with in reason.

Theres a 1811 in madison wi with a deck not a lot of other details
It looks to be about average the guy wants $2000. I paid 1500. For mine around here they go for a pretty penny. A+ on. The 318 deere thats exactly what I got my eye on .Ill still keep my 1863 and dont get me wrong I love the 1811 its been a good dependable tractor on a solid platform but its just about impossible to get parts or accesories around here (thats why I bought a parts tractor) This is deere country theres plenty of parts and accesories for them and as mentenioned you can find them with 3 point, power steering, front ports for hydrolics |

Cubs are rare in Illinois ?? I got three Cubs out of the Southern part of Illinois this past summer and three other GT's also. Check out CL thru the summer , they are on there ALL the time. I bet there is some on there right now. Not trying to rag on you , these have just been my dealings in my area. You may run in to someone with that "I have to have it attitude" , who knows what you would get !!!?? Just my .02 !!!

Most people around my area don't want these old mowers for their 1/4 acre yards and usually buy the box store crap. The guy that purchased my 1811 knew about Cubs and just purchased a house with a 2 acre yard that needed a lot of work that it came in handy for. Cubs do not exist much here in Georgia so that probably helps out on the price.

I paid $1500 for my 1811 about three years ago with 400 hours on it. It didn't have a speck of rust on it and no leaks of any kind and the PO had just put in a brand new transaxle for $2500. I compared it to the zero turn CC I just returned to Home Depot because it was so lousy and realized what a bargain it was! Oak is right about Georgia being JD country. I have flipped about 8 JD's of all sizes and could have never done that with Cubs. Like I said, if you run across a JD 318 that is in good shape buy it. There is probably no small tractor with as much stuff on it as standard equipment as the 318. I flipped one with a Buford Bucket on it and it was just amazing what it would lift. When the potential new owner came to try it out he brought his wife and his neighbor and his wife to see it. I told them to all get in the bucket and lifted them about waist high to show them how stout the little machine was. He bought it on the spot!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
