So here you can see the clutch assembly inserted into the Clutch assembly jig. The short stub of the driveshaft that protrudes through the fixed clutch plate is residing in the recess between the oak spacers that are fixed to the top of the head block. The drive shaft is resting in between the two drive blocks, waiting to have the oak top plate screwed to the slide assembly.

And here we have two bar clamps compressing the 500# blue spring, ready for the spirol pin to be driven into place. Or, ready to tighten down the two split collars, if that was what you chose to use.

my 1000's clutch. With HD clutch arm installed, and original arm next to the assembly for comparison.
Lew, I can't see what is wrong with twoton's assembly.

Picture is too small on my computer screen... or my eyes are too old. Opened it in MS Paint and zoomed in. Looks like it is backwards.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
