Atleast I know it works now and I can fix it a leisure and still play with the 147.  We did get some snow for liek 10 minutes but it didnt stick at all Saturday.

I had thought about burnt paint too  So I will seriously consider that as a potential problem area with my design. Was planning some type of heat shield? But moving the pipe out at this time is not as easy Just picked up some 5/16 bolts to secrue the exhaust pipe to the block using the tapped holes in the block. On the electrical problem Could it be that the selinoid is not grounded? I did not add a ground wire for it. May do that tonight and try to start again. Regards, Chris

Found the electrical problem. ME! I wired the voltage reg with the gray wire on the GEN it was supposed to go on the BAT and the blue wire on the BAT it was supposed to go on the GEN terminal. Guys don't do this
Engine is back on the bench and it looks like all the wiring is junk. Not sure what else is toasted? Well the garage and house is still standing. NOT a great day in Cub restoration-ville. Now I know why I don't like wiring that much. Regards, Chris
