Default K241AQS vs K241

I have a 10 hp engine from a 1000 Quiet Line. Does it have a different oil pan, mounting bolt pattern, etc. than a non-AQS 10 hp engine?

I am sure the pans are the same, the main difference between the 2 are that the AQS has an actual starter motor and a recifier (or stator, whatever they go by) for the charging system, the non AQS motor uses a starter generator to accomplish the same thing. There are some differences in the exhaust, motor tins, and carb (choke and throttle) hook ups.

If you use it in an older cub, you might want to grab the harness from the 1000 as well, with the differences, the wiring harness is different as well.

The AQS uses and electric PTO vs. the Manual PTO on a standard motor also. If you are not planning on using the PTO then you won't have much of an issue other than the charging system and wiring.

It can only be used on a wide frame because of the bigger fly wheel , the fan shroud is wider.

Thanks Jeff, DWayne, and Dave. I had put a later model K321 into my 129 loader tractor and also used an electric PTO. I didn't even think about it not fitting. I just wasn't sure about the 10 hp. I knew it had a smaller stroke and bore than the bigger ones, so was curious if there were any other differences. I had to promise my wife not to physically play until my surgery heals, but then I start thinking , too much.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
